I just finished a ground up resto on my 67 convert.
Went to my first Ford show last Sunday and was entered with 8 or 10 '64 to '68 convert's. and took 2nd.
A lot of good comments on the engine compartment except for a length of insulating tubing on my wiring going to the hood turn signals that is old looking.
Where can I buy some or should I just take it off?
ps/ I tried to post a couple of pictures but not sure they are here?

looks like you figured it out. the pics are there. as for the tubing i do not know of a place to purchase it. someone else will likely chime in here soon with a better answer. welcome to the site!!!

That cotten tubing is tough to find and was only used on the early 67s. The later hood harness used a vinyl tube. You could change to that or buy a newer style harness. You might be able to epoxy the breaks in the original and paint on some thinned down roofing cement. When they were new the were soaked in tar. Best of luck Marty

Is this the wrap on the hood turn signal wires? If yes what about the wrap used on heat riser tubing from exhaust manifold to carb? That's pretty small in diameter.

macsautoparts.com have a black tar coated flex cloth that has a inside diameter of 1/4" pn V14597B - 5/16" PN V14597C - 1/2" pn V14597D.
I have a background in 64 Galaxies, so you will need confirmation that it suits your requirements.

Now that we know where to get the material thanks to GD64 my question would be how to get it installed over the end plugs and fittings? I have an original starter wire which I would like to restore.

That is what I have been wondering.
Anyhow, I ordered some of each size yesterday and will figure it out when I get it I guess.
fyi./ Macsauto has a min. order fee so I paid 9.00 to get less than 4.00 worth of stuff!

The 1/2 " stuff fits fine over the starter cable.
I cut the other wires in half and slipped the tubing over and reconnected the wire to be covered over the splice.

I would hate to cut the starter wire in half to intall tubing. Talking with guy at Periogies he said the best way is to slit the insulator tubing and then epoxy it together. Any better ideas?

You do not have to cut the starter wire. I fits through the tubing end.
I agree you do not want to cut a big cable like the starter.
You probably could slit the cable and not even epoxy it together again.

My April 67 San Jose has the cotton insulating cover. Some plants may have switched over to the vinyl earlier than April 67.

VSOP I think you ment to say slit the tubing not the cable. I have some of this tubing on a repop cable and wanted to transfer it to the original. Wont fit over the rubber end of the cable to get it off. Probably wont want to go on the original either. Maybe the 1/2 tubing you got from the supplier listed above is a little bit bigger in diameter.

If you start the tubing at the starter, it will fit if you use the 1/2" stuff.- should fit from either end.
ps/ don'r slit the cable. lol
