Title: 64 1/2 Clutch Rod Firewall Seal - Felt B4 12/14/64
Post by: FXguy on February 18, 2012, 09:44:59 PM
Last time I needed one of these was about 16 years ago.  At that time I was able to buy one from a parts supplier, but I cannot remember who it was.

Does anyone know where I can get one of these?

TIA

Should be relatively easy to make, just need some thick material.  A local auto upholstery shop might have something.

Found this used past December... January for Dearborn and February for SJ.

Not surprised that these were used past when the Ford parts books says, seems Ford seldom ever discontinued anything until it was actually gone.  I was thinking of layering several thinner felt sections since I have yet to find felt of the same consistency that is this thick.  Home depot sells felt furniture glides that are thinner with adhesive on one side.  The felt is about the same coarseness/color, and two or three of them sandwiched together might just work. We shall see...would still be nice to find the real deal.

I forgot to mention on the other side of the pad it is finished with black smooth material, like a rubberized coating...

Surprisingly, it's a tough piece to find in good enough condition to re-use.
