Title: 200 CID Fuel Pump ID Question
Post by: Skyway65 on March 21, 2010, 10:51:29 PM
I need some help identifying a fuel pump.  The one that I took off my ’65 6 cyl, which only has 35,000 miles and is 99% original in all regards, has the numbers 40227A stamped into the flange where it bolts onto the engine.  Based on the reference I have, that is the correct number for an original AC pump for my car.  I sent that pump to be rebuilt. The rebuilder says that this pump is most likely an aftermarket Airtex brand.  He also mentioned that the original pump for that car should have had “AC” embossed on it somewhere.  Can anyone who has experience identifying a ’65 6-cyl fuel pump help me with this?  Did all of the factory pumps have “AC” embossed in them?  Could the one that I took off be the original without “AC” being written on it?  To make things more confusing the pump that I took off had the original white with red letter “FOMOCO” bowl on it.  Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.

Gary, I have what I believe to be a original fuel pump
off my 65 fairlane 200 engine. I can get it out and take
some pictures of it and send them to you.
