This positive battery cable on Ebay has to be described wrong?

NOS Ford Battery Cable 15'' C3AE-14300-CA Motorcraft

It looks a lot like me an 83 (E3) cable than a 63

Am I wrong?

Thanks

Might be listed in some newer catalog as a service replacement for the original. People (sellers especially) tend to use the term NOS very very loosely :(

The chart on fortification.com lists the "5" car line code as: "5 = Recreation Vehicles (1974-75), Continental (1982-later)". So this cable was probably for an 80's Continental. And even if that was the original application, it could still legitimately be a service part for C3AE-14300-CA, like Jeff said. I don't have a parts catalog new enough to answer that.

Or the lister goofed and unintentionally mismatched the description to the photo.

Keep in mind that the car line code in the engineering number does not necessarily call out an exclusive application to certain vehicles.  From what I understand, the code is there because that is the engineering department/org that developed the part.  It wouldn't be uncommon to find engineering codes like C3OE, C4AE, C5DF on an early Mustang.

Finally a question I can answer with 100% confidence.   ;D

You are not wrong, it is in fact and 83 (E3) cable and at least one of the applications is a 1983 5.0L Thunderbird. (Have access to an original, original owner car)  ;)

The suffix in his description is wrong too.  The cable is actually -AB.

Wish I would have saw this before the auction was over.
