68 seat back lock
« on: October 24, 2018, 09:17:08 PM »
I found that there are two different seat back locks used. The one on the seat is a 68 6-20-68 San Jose. The one I am holding is about 1/4 inch narrower, I am not sure what plant or time it is from. I am not sure if this was a change or a supplier difference.

Is the one you were holding original from another car?  Maybe it's a later service replacement?

I think it was from a car that I parted out. I measured them and found the one in our 68 SJ car was 1 5/16. I also checked our 68 GT 350 11-02-67 NJ and it was also 1 5/16. The unknown origin one measured 1 3/32. Yes it could have been a service part. If any one has one of these narrow parts on your car I would like to know the plant and build date and if both sides are the same with.

I got a chance to look at our other SJ 68 7-16-68 car and it has the same smaller size on both sides as in the photo. From what I have so far I would conclude there were two suppliers. We will see what others find.
