Cougar 1
« on: January 20, 2019, 11:27:55 AM »
The recent sale of the first privately owned pre-production Mustang got me thinking about Cougar 1.  A beautiful car with an awesome story and loads of documentation.  I saw Cougar 1 at the Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA a few years back.  I had a great conversation with Jim Pinkerton, a great guy. At the time Cougar 1 was for sale for $330,000.  Its still for sale but the price is now $410,000.  At that time, Jim told me he was in no hurry to sell.  The sale of Mustang 100002 at $175,000 is probably going to make Jim wait bit longer at his current asking price.  I have to be honest though, If I was given the choice between Mustang 100002 and the Cougar 1, I'd probably take the Cougar.

The Cougar 1 site is a good read for those not familiar with the car...  https://cougar-1.com

I've heard that Jim has had offers in the neighborhood of his asking price, but has turned them down because he doesn't want the car to be shuttered away in a collection, never to be seen again.  He wants the car to be shown, as he does now.
