choke tube insulation

does anyone know what coating is used to dip the end of the choke tube insulation. Can anyone provide a source Thanks Lu

prob just thermal machine that melts and turns it black.

The end is not dipped. The insulation end is cut and then heated and melted to seal  the fibers .  The black is the carbon after effect of that heating process.  While we are on the subject of the insulation  it is unfortunate that the original insulation has been discontinued by all of the reproduction people. I believe it has something to do with the amount of asbestos in the original covering. What is available now is a different material and does not look like the original. Bob
