Welcome to the site. Apparently you found it interesting enough to join so again welcome. Hope you find the information and the support helpful in projects centered around originality and such.

As mentioned the picture is nice but does not help as much as it would if we knew when the car was built or at least the first four digits of the sequential number of the car since we already know it was built at San Jose. That way we can try and track who was working when at the plant.  For Henry I have a long time friend that met Henry - he stayed in the area after San Jose closed worked in another big manufacturing plant there. He was able to get his inspector stamp from San Jose.  He tended to do more of the uni-body inspections not sure if it was due to seniority or due to a physical reason

In looking at my Mach 1 I notice it has no stamp on the trunk lid.  What is strange is its the original lid and paint and if you look at the pictures you will see that there is a large amount of overspray in the area where the stamp usually is.  Anyone seen this before?   The last pic is of my headlight bucket stamp.  I assume that would not be the same person as the trunk inspector?  I find it odd that it has that much excess paint in that area.  Any thoughts?

That is not overspray nor would we typically see overspray in that area. It was direct application on purpose since this was one of the surfaces that was meant to be painted though runs (not like you have) were sometimes found and not a reason for failure and respray at the factory. Paint inspector stampings are very delicate and can be wiped away with little effort.

Correct. Parts and unibody were not in the same location in the plant when they were inspected and marked.

The painted area shown in your first picture is interesting. Not sure what color that is but the paint runs like that I've never seen and may be something not applied at the plant. Also noticed that above and to the right in the same picture there is a chip in the paint and appears to be a light color under the blue then a rusty metal surface directly below. If so that may explain or at least provide a clue

Could be  Lol    Its a weird thing for sure.  Not sure what happened there.  The car has its original paint so i'm not sure.  Is there any other place on the car the same inspector that stamps the trunk would have stamped elsewhere?

No not typically

Which one of the two cars listed in your signature is the one your asking about? May be able to see who else was on the same shift as Rhoden during a specific period of time

Just recently I found a diamond in the ruff last week....  I found a guy that had a Mach 1 deck lid sitting in his garage for the last 15 plus years and its rust free. ;D    This was stamped on the underside.  See pic.  I have not seen Henry with a number next to his name until this one???  Thoughts?   Its a late 68 build date lime gold original paint on this car.   The car was sold a few years ago after it was painted Red..  UGH  To bad the owner didn't keep it original.  . Love that color!.

Yes believe that the trunk lid was stamped twice by two different inspectors during a shift change. Odd but bound to happen at times

Its interesting history for sure and this stamp appears to be a different font then other stamps from the same person.  Maybe he wore the stamp out and his replacement was a different font?   Cool stuff!
