Screw at Horse Corral
« on: November 30, 2022, 01:15:15 PM »
Trying to confirm the correct screw and finish on the screw that holds the bars to the corral on both non Gt and GT fog lamp bars on a 65. I believe the spreadsheet shows 40944-s2, but want to confirm that is correct. I don?t have a good pic of the exploded diagram view of the assembly in my restoration guides to show the screw number

Thanks,
Chris

Each spreadsheet, in the right hand column, has listed the source or sources, for that entry. The Osborn Productions "Mustang Assembly Manuals" and "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC) are the prime sources. The MPC is available in this forums library. The Assembly Manuals are a proprietary document, and legally, we are not allowed to print a page. Something about "copyright" laws.

So is it the correct one because I recently looked at a diagram and 371698 is listed as the screw but that isn?t in your spreadsheet

What diagram? I'm always interested in alternate sources.

Are you referring to Y in this snippet?

It is listed as 40944-S2 in Jim's spreadsheet and is listed as the Radiator Grille Bar screw.

Chris : Just to help you understand the confusion l the hardware part # 40944, a 10-24 x 3/4", hex, washer head machine screw shown in the Assembly Manual for both 1965 and 1966 Mustangs, was not a Serviced Part. In other words, it was a Factory only part. The 1965-72 Ford Master Parts Catalog shows that hardware part # 371698, a 10-24 x 3/4", indented, hex head, machine screw, was the Service Part that was used to attach the bars to the corral.

Hope this helps,

Bob
