Should the taillight panel have a concave bow in it? Approx. 1/2" towards the interior

Normally an indication IMHO of a past minor (or major) accident. We see this allot in 65-66's where people see so many with a curve (and the bumper) they start believing that they came that way ;)

No, not an accident. First this is a new Dynacorn panel. The lower crossmember where its is spot welded is straight within 1/16" The top edge which forms the trunk opening is also within 1/16". If I lay a straight edge just above the bumper mounting holes and below the taillight cut outs from drivers side to passenger side its straight. If I move the straight edge up near the center of the panel thats were the inward bow is. I have posted this question on several different with no answer.

I dont want to step on any toes here but....67/68's have a gentle concave curve to them. There is a very small curve at the bumper hole height and it increases as you go up.Check your trunk lid and bumper they both have a curve on the leading edge...I have a NOS taillamp panel I could check if needed.......Cory

Checked the trunk lid I have at home and its pretty straight.

Not sure if I would trust a used bumper or a taillight panel that has been off the car for many years. - Just reporting ;)

Guess we should specify how much of a "gentle curve" some of us are seeing - just a thought
