Topic: 67 Convertible power top wiring reference

I could sure use some good photos of the proper routing of the wiring harness and what the area at the end of the harnesses around the starter solenoid should look like.  I'm pretty sure ours is missing a junction block or something near that all that was there was the long wire and short wire with a rusted bolt/nut holding it together.

I am attaching a pic with the junction block which i believe is similar between a 67 and 68. However on a 68 the main lead comes from the center of the firewall over and along the RH shock tower over to the junction block. I have the harness from a 67 I stripped long ago and I remember that lead was much longer and it poped out through the firewall on the LH side and traveled along the LH aprons up and around the core support with the other front end wiring over to the RH side through the firewall and then to the junction block. I still have that lead down in the basement. Much longer than a 68 lead. You can get a junction block from NPD but it is listed for 65-66. Very similar if not the same piece. Zoom in right below the starter solinoid.

Thanks for the confirmation!  I was going to order that part but wasn't sure since the catalog didn't list it for 67 but I guess the online parts description does when you select it.

in addition to the block make sure you get the fusible link as well. The paper on the block should be blue/gray not tan. I think NPD ones may have changed to blue gray recently (see judges can affect vendors

I got mine from NPD a few months ago and it came tan.....ugh.

That old style Autolite star box indicates a pre 1968 vintage service part. That is the color of paper I have always seen .Bob

The paper that you and I used to restore our '66 version of this part is light - almost white. The paper from Virginia Classic was tan. Does this mean we need to replace with darker gray paper? Or was the paper on the service replacement different from that on the factory installed version?

The paper can be anywhere from lighter blue gray to dark blue gray, The one in my photo looks a little lighter because of camera flash.

Tim whats the pink/red mark on the shock tower? Can you zoom out to show it better? By the way the hoses right next to the junction block which are vcerticle are for a tilt column? The colors of the stripes seem to be for that option. Finally are the wiring harnesses I see in the pic repro or original? They look way too nice for original.

Understood. I know the danger of posting paint marks on the internet. Next show you go to theres your mark on a car not appropriate. It is a letter of the Ford paint code and we believe at this point it was used to identify the fiberglass parts with the car they went on at AO Smith. I've only seen it on 68 Shelbys
