Front spindle finish
«

Does anyone know the finish that the front spindles had on a late May 69 428CJ car also what finish is on the caliper brackets? When I striped them there was a lot of black paint under the grease oil and dirt.
Thanks,
Dave

Since the metal was heat treated, then machined and tested there are a couple of different finishes on the piece (goes for caliper mount also) Some are getting the tone through home phosphating then tumbling (watch that the temp is not to high not cooled too quickly) or gun bluing (using the repair fluid) . The sanding or remachining the surfaces and I use a drimmel for the test patch. Remember to clean out the punch mark
Some examples
