Known about the car for many years - just didn't know who had it. Recently have had a number of discussions with the builder/owner and the car was mentioned a month or so ago in a post here.

There are a fair number (found and unfound) customs built in 64-65 that were built, some to show what fastbacks might look like or to illustrate other ideas of the time. Ford would hire some companies to build the car or just provide the basis (a production or preproduction vehicle that was left over/they were done with) in other cases the money and effort was all private. There were Falcons, T-birds and other Fords that were also customized and took part in a traveling road show that visited major urban areas for a couple of years.

Some of the names of the cars that I can recall at the moment were (family was into customs and drag cars in the 50-60's

The Grand Americans - Believe there were three cars built all a bit different from one another - know where one is - built by the Bud Anderson I think
The Sonny and Cher cars - Two cars built by Barris
The Frank Sinatra car - Done by Barris for a movie
Pegasus - A furturistic fastback - believe its currently in Europe
Mustang Karavan - Barris built - looks similar to the Sinatra convertible

IF you want a challenge for restoring take on one of these "odd balls" ;)  It will drive you crazy

Yes Bill has been plastering the media to promote the car and try and increase interest.

Which can only mean we will see it at Barrett Jackson to be the "star mustang" of the 50 year sale ! LOL

I have a couple of vintage magizines and this was in the Motor Trend May 65 edition.  The article says it would be in production! I've attached a scan of the relative page. Next thing ya know I'll learn that we don't have those flying cars yet!
