I'm getting conflicting info on the color of the outer shock cover on a Dearborn 70 BOSS 302 build date 9-23-69. I have been told and seen phosphate oil and slop gray which is correct. Also add the battery tray to those questions as well.

My original covers are a very dark slop grey, almost appear Black, along with the shock tower braces, and Battery Tray, maybe the Rad holdown too, but I?d have dig that one out to confirm.
March/70 build Dearborn

Information is covered in the article titles - Paint - 1969 and 70 - Slop Gray or Black Panels and Brackets in the library section of the site. Its listed under both 69 and 70 sections. Also has been the topic of a few prior threads that in turn prompted the production of the article
Not really confusing but like most details you need to pay attention to where the car was built
Bottom line is slop gray of some version and they typically will not be the same finish since there were painted at different times and different location. There are addition parts that were finished this way also so check the article. Never heard anyone suggesting P&O finish. Maybe that person was thinking about the front upper shock mounts/beehives instead

Thanks Jeff I guess the confusing part is someone sending you pictures saying a part needs to PO when another send a picture and its Slop gray
