Title: Leaf springs
Post by: LouisGT350H on April 16, 2022, 07:15:41 PM
Hi

I am restoring 66 hertz, can any one tell me the correct colour of the leaf springs?

I have seen black with black clamps, black with silver clamps, silver grey leaf springs with silver clamps.   Which one is correct?

Thanks

Lou

Lou ,fresh leaf springs have a dark spring steel finish . Manganese phosphate is darker then zinc phosphate if restoring originals and can give a very close look finish. Some use gun blueing .  The band clamps are a much lighter bare steel finish.
