Not certain of the detail or details your looking for but here are a few examples

Not a popular option and when they were ordered on cars with manual transmissions

These all appear to be factory installed

Jeff,  The pic of that last one "Appears" to have been a bit "Modified"....lol.....


Should go on to say that all of the Rally-Pacs that Jeff has pictured above are all known as "Low Profile" Rally-Pacs which are the "Correct" Style for all 1966 Mustangs, or 1965 Mustangs with the Pony "Deluxe" Interior or "GT" Package. (Basically any Mustang that Correctly came with a 5-Dial Cluster Originally).  The Low Profile Rally-Pacs could have been ALL-Black, or Color-Keyed to the Car's Interior Trim (Same color as the Dash and Steering Column).

However, At the same time in 1966, The Ford Dealers still sold the earlier "High Profile" Rally-Pacs "Over the counter" at Ford Service Parts Counters...and could have been installed in just about any car...regardless...by and person or Ford Dealer...though not "technically" correct.... The earlier "High Profile" Rally-Pacs only came in one color....Black. 

Believe that only Hi-Po Engine Equipped cars and GT cars got the 8,000RPM Tachs, and All other cars got 6,000RPM Tachs.   I'm not 100% sure if ALL GT cars got 8,000RPM tachs or if it was just Hi-Po engined cars. It may have just been the Hi-Po cars... I'd have to look it up...or Jeff will reply..

A couple of late-addition questions....What's the difference between a "Low-Profile" Rally-Pac and a "High Profile" one?...Pictures of each would be awesome! Also, what color Rally Pac would I order if I had the attached interior....

This is a 65 Rally-Pac (high profil). I am not sure if this one is original or aftermarket.

First, welcome to the forum.
The "high profile" Ralley Pac was used on early 65 Mustangs, non-GT, with the "sweep" style speedometer. The low profile was adopted to show the round "clock" style 270 degree speedometer on later 65 and GT mustangs. The easy way to tell is the "high" uses a sweep style tach, the low uses the round clock style. Your interior would used a color coded white wrinkle finish housing low profile as a factory installed option. Dealer installed Ralley Pac's were mostly black. Aftermarket Ralley Pacs are either white of black wrinkle finish but do not wire into the ignition the same way as factory.

I also notice there are more than 1 manufacturer of aftermarket Rally Pacs. Is there a better one on the market when comparing? Do most resellers sell the same unit, ie: CJ, MU, NPD, etc.? Thanks again guys!

Since we're on the subject of Rally Pacs, how come on the 1966 8K low profile ones some only have the the RPMs as every 1000 and some have every 500. Look at Jeffs first shot and then look at this shot of another original, was this a change over period thing? I've seen both before... and I just pulled this image off the web for reference of what I was talking about.

I vaguely remember that assembly line Ralley Pacs had "Mustang" at the bottom and units that were dealer sold said "Ford". As that one is black, it could be a dealer sold one. I know mine is a dealer sold unit, is black, says Ford and is number marked every 1K RPM, not every 500 RPM.

I think the 66 low profiles all said FORD on the RPM gauge, I think it was the repo's that said MUSTANG because they couldn't get the licensing to use the FORD text.

So I think I'm still asking the question, I know the one I have is an original RallyPac, and has FORD logo and RPM increments of 500, so with Jeffs original reply and in the first photo, make me think there was a change over at some point... and which was first would be the next question

I think Oval Industries makes the best one, wires right in just like they originals so you don’t have to run the extra wire, also looks the most like the originals with a clocks second hand that tics like the original as well. Just my opinion

Thanks Morsel....I looked them up and , unfortunately, they only come in Black. We need a white one to go with the white

dash panel and steering column. The ones CJ sells come in several colors. Who makes them for CJ?
