67 axle vent fitting and hose clamp
« on: March 28, 2016, 08:40:08 PM »
Here's what appears to be an original rear brake vent hose clamp.  I used shadows to try to convey the stampings.  Looks like the number 90 (the 9 is very faint) and a manufacturers mark.

67gta289 - The markings on the pinch clamp were the same for many years

Speaking of axle vent tubes, just had conversation with someone who has a 67 Dearborn fastback built in March of 67. .........  Does anyone know when and where these clamps were used?

John - no additional info? 8" - 9" ?

Doesn't look like it fits the lower arm like it should if made for that application. Need to look through pictures to find what it might have originally came from

I looked through the 67 MPC and the clamp mentioned in the original post is part # 375416-S35 (EE4).  Within the MPC this part is associated with the Fairlane, full size Ford, and Falcon.  I would say that this is probably generic for all car lines, all axle sizes, for 1967.

There was no mention of the "clip" that John (7R02A) pictured.  Nothing in any of the MPC or shop manual pictures.

Somewhat still on topic, in this pic:

Richard is showing a star type lock washer.

The Osborne Assy Manual is not showing the number for the washer as all I see in this washed out section is the number "8."
However, a revised August 67 Illustration Section 20 does show the complete number as  34808-s(X-67).

Jim's spreadsheet shows this number to decode as a "Washer,Lock,Split."

The reproduction hose kit includes a split washer.

I can't find my re-plated rear brake assy right now to look for witness marks. What should it be for the majority of the 67 year?

That the 6 cylinder installation page (ref "1967 Mustang Chassis Assembly Manual", AM00020 pg 14). Go to page 15 for the V8 installation drawing. It references 34808-S8.

I assume you are referring to "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC) which uses REPLACEMENT parts normally stocked at dealers and you want what was used on the assembly line, which in this case is the same.
Jim's spreadsheet shows this number to decode as a "Washer,Lock,Split."
Yup, with a reference source, the "AMK Products Guide to Ford Fasteners 1966-73" (3rd edition, I try and keep up).
The reproduction hose kit includes a split washer.
The reproduction kit is wrong. Let Max at AMK know.
ed The kit is correct.
Jim
I was in error. The washer in question is a split ring. Sorry

I had both pages spread out (of the Assy Manual) and referenced the wrong page.  Looks like John did too.
They both reference the same number.

I'm not sure what you are saying here. What is the same?

The external tooth lock washer, 34808-S8, is referenced in the assembly drawing and in the service drawing. That makes it the "same".  ;)

I'll attach the section of the spreadsheet that references 34808-S8. It says split lock.

Anyway, I finally found the attachment bracket for my original rear brake distribution block.
The witness marks show it to be a tooth washer.

Yup. It sure does. And so does the AMK guide, pg 231. My apologies. I will drink a beer in your honor (make that a glass of Cabernet).
I did a quick look and the only application for an external toothed lock washer (34943-S8) was the 64-66 289 HP.
