Title: Production Date Stamp on Shock Tower
Post by: 4eyes on September 15, 2015, 10:02:28 AM
Hey CM,

I was cleaning up the engine bay of my 1984 coupe and found a yellow paint stamp on driver side shock tower. It says "12 01" which the car's production date is 12/1/83 so pretty confident this is a factory marking. Can anyone verify having the same paint stamp on their shock tower?

Thanks!

Here are some from Daniel Carpenter's '85 1/2 SVO CP.

One is on the RH front bumper cover lip and the other on the LH shock tower.

Excellent pics! Thanks for verifying my assumption. My car was manufactured in Dearborn, I wonder if this was specific to there or all plants?

By 1984, wasn't DAP at Rouge it for Mustang production?  Or by other plants do you mean other car lines?

That very well could be, I'm not sure. My Marti report says Dearborn so that's why I said it. Hopefully one of the more knowledgeable members will chime in.

I'm fairly certain that by 1974 Dearborn was the exclusive assembly plant for Mustangs.  The end of Mustang production at the San Jose and Metuchen sites may have actually been earlier than that.
