Title: VIN Stamping
Post by: Brant on June 22, 2010, 05:20:39 PM
All of the VIN stampings on the LH front fender aprons that I have seen are stamped in a location that is visible after the fender is installed.  This is rather obvious, because most times this is the only VIN that can be seen with the fenders in place.  I've seen some of the rear stampings also visible with the fenders in place.

My question is about a VIN stamp that CANNOT be seen with the fenders installed (see second image.)  Anyone ever seen this?

I have seen a stamp at an angle where you could only see the first 3 or 4 numbers. My C code fastback who ever stamped the drivers rear VIN must have been on a monday moring or friday afternoon as all you can see is the star. I did see a C code 65 SJ coupe in a yard just today that had every vin double stamped on the drivers side.
