I am not having any luck finding a source for an autolite staful battery for my 67 fastback with a 390. please share if you have a source.
TIA

They don't make a correct reproduction and even used ones that will not hold a charge are worth thousands
IF you use the search feature you will find a number of threads that discuss and show pictures of the early version of the AUTOLITE battery with the raised yellow printing
Most settle and take a little point deduction at shows with the 68 and up reproduction currently being made.

FYI I overhead heard last weekend someone complaining that the various vendors are back ordered on the repro Autolite batteries(68-70version). I think that has happened the last 2 or 3 years at this time.

Anyone ordered a battery from Virginia classic mustang? I did a forum search and found the comments were in 2011. Hoping to get fresh info before I order.

Only one or two suppliers make the batteries so they are all the same - so base you choice on the shops return history, customer service, shipping cost and so on IMHO
Sure they will ship it to you in a safe wuick manner if they have them in stock

UPDATE: I order an autolite battery from Virginia Classic Mustang. Took close to 7 weeks to receive it. The total cost with shipping was around $300. It is noticeably lighter than the replica autolite that was replaced. I guessing 10lbs. Voltage checked good out of the box. Installed and it seems good.

This one , GP 27, is two years old and is in my 69. Are you saying 10 LBS total or 10 LBS less that your last one ? Brian

10lbs less than the last one.

Sure would be nice if this battery was lighter. On my 69, without a battery strap, it is really a tight fit and fender damage is a real possibility. Thanks, Brian

I bought a inexpensive battery strap at harbor freight. It attaches to the top posts. It is a must for safer movement of a group 27.
