Title: Convertible Top Removal
Post by: Twilight65 on September 28, 2009, 07:54:45 PM
I'm at the point that it's time to remove the convertible top from the body. Haven't done this before. Is it best to remove fabric then the frame? or should I just leave fabric attached to frame and unbolt from well area to keep it together until I'm ready to replace fabric? Thanks

Keep it all together until later.  You never know when you might need to reference a certain measurement on the top install.

Thanks for the advice, Once I'm ready to go back together is there a certain sequence that I should follow to reinstall.

If you're going to be replacing the top, then yes, there will be a sequence.  The top frame, if necessary, will have to be stripped and refinished.  Tacking strips will have to be fixed if they are in disrepair.  The top frame will need to be reinstalled back on the car as a standalone unit.  Then, the top can be installed and trimmed out.
