Title: Smog pump disassembly
Post by: DaveF on March 25, 2024, 01:57:41 PM
I need to dis assemble the smog pump on my 1970 Stang. It needs bearings. So, I got the back off easily enough, but I?m not quite sure how to remove the front pulley and front bearing. I didn?t see any videos/ threads that addressed the disassembly. Also, does anybody sell a bearing kit/rebuild kit for these?

I hope I am remembering correctly when recall a tutorial that a forum someone did on the disassembly and restoration of the smog pump. You might try searching.

There is an eBay seller who sells the bearing and the carbon seals for the vanes.  There are tricks to removing the front bearing and more tricks to install the new one in the correct location.  I will PM you my contact info and you can email or phone me and I will coach you on the job.
