Title: Mustang 71-73 351C 4V/CJ air cleaner(s)
Post by: c9zx on August 08, 2011, 03:31:01 PM
These questions keep coming up at various shows and discussions so I thought I'd ask for input here. 1971: CJ started in very late 1971 (May)? Chrome lid? Engine code Q? Decal said "CJ"?  1972: All 4Vs called CJ? All Chrome lid? California cars blue lid, decal said 4V?  1973: All California cars decal said 4V, blue lid? Other 49 states early cars chrome lid, decal said CJ? Late cars (after May) blue lid, decal said 4V? All input is appreciated.  Chuck

I would like you to share your personal recollections and experiences. I would appreciate anything you are willing to provide. These cars suffer from minimal documentation and I'd like to at least start to change that. I need your help.  Chuck

Thanks for the reply. If the decal is still there, what is printed on it?

Thanks, Chuck

Do you know the build date of the car that the air cleaner lid came off of?

Thanks, Chuck

I bought a number of pieces eons ago from what I believe was a 73 351.

This is about all that's left and it has a number of rust spots. But it has a label!

I bought a one owner, all original except tires 1972 351 CJ 4spd car in 1979.  It definitely had a blue air cleaner and chrome lid, that sat 351CJ.

I bought an all original one owner 1972 351 HO car in 1992.  It had the same set up, but decal said 351 HO.
