AM Radio Chrome Strip Restoration
« on: February 28, 2016, 10:08:21 AM »
I was not sure exactly where to share this, but I wanted to share something I did to restore my chrome strip on my AM radio.  Most often the chrome is not in great shape or worn off.  Mine was actually in great shape, but still had a couple very small areas that the black was showing through.  I've seen them painted silver which looks OK, but I wanted a better solution.  I used a modeling technique for my simple solution.  The product is called Bare-Metal and there are lots of youtube videos on how to apply.  I used the Ultra Bright Chrome which costs $6.25 for a sheet plus shipping on my radio and think it turned out much better than any of the paints out there.  Have a look.  I am working on further smoothing it out, but this was my first initial try so it should get even better.  Picture not the greatest to show the shine, but it shines much better than paint in person.
