1968 Dearborn coupe trunk interior finish
« on: October 23, 2018, 10:20:27 AM »
Hi guys,

the question is - how shall the trunk interior look like in a 12/1/67 Dearborn made base C-code coupe.
As per browsing the pics here I assume it should be painted the body color, no blackouts. The hinges and all other trunk lid mechanism (except for the lock) are painted body color.
Is there a sound deadner on the inner quarter panel/ fender? If yes, is it applied before paint?

The gas tank.
Actually it was painted separately and assembled with the car at later stage, after the body was painted? As I asked in the other thread, the gas tank should be plated wit Long Termes leaving a metalish look. And the top of the gas tank, which is actually the trunk's floor should be kept the same? Contrasting to the body color of other trunk parts?

Sound deadner was applied to the back of the rear quarter panels before paint.

The fuel tank is not painted, but remains naturual. It was installed after paint

Just to be clear none of the trunk lock parts (latch, striker/receiver or any of the attaching hardware was installed before painting process

Trunk lid, hinges and mounting bolts were as well as rear bumper guard brackets so the visible mounting hardware in the trunk gets painted.

Is there a sound deadner on the inner quarter panel/ fender? If yes, is it applied before paint?

All of the trunk seam sealers  - trunk floor to wheel houses, rear bumper brackets to floor,  taillight panels to quarter panels (some edges) and taillight panel to rear trunk panel - were done prior to the exterior paint color application.

Moving the thread since it deals with specific year and plant ;)
