Front spring installation
« on: June 12, 2020, 04:38:11 AM »
Hi
Any ideas on how to install the front springs without scratching the new paint?
Spring compressors I think will damage the paint.
Cheers

It’s my understanding that the springs weren’t painted and I have had good luck with this compression tool.

I use the Snap-On spring compressor with a piece of plywood across the top of the tower. Or use an extra shock cap. (The fork goes on top). Find it on ebay.
I love the Torrington bearing type triple washers at the top and extra smooth hardened screw. Connect the wings to the third from the bottom coil.

My home made version. Cost - zero - everything was found around the house, leftovers from other projects.
1 Components
2 Assembled
3 Ford's (Comet actually) version
