1967 Rear Brake Shoe Guide/anchor pin- 10 inch Brakes
« on: February 10, 2022, 09:43:29 PM »
The shop manual and assembly drawings show a Rear Brake Shoe Guide around the anchor pin. Is that only for 9" Brakes? I have 10"x 1.75 and neither side has the shoe guide and I don't believe the springs would seat properly if installed. My suspicion is that this piece was not used on the 10" Brakes. Can anyone please confirm.

Can't specifically since I don't have diagrams or pictures of all the different combinations but looking through a collection of different years the shoe guides were not used on all of them and the cable end on some, served as sort of a washer.retainer on many I found

Hopefully someone with an original with the same size brakes will be able to clarify

If I understand your question, my 68 CJ has 10x1.75 rear drum brakes, it has the anchor plate. Part 2028 in the Ford Parts Manual.

I've only heard of the anchor pins being used on 9" brakes, have never found them on 10" brakes.

The PDF Keith shows is generic. I've run into this while looking for correct springs and colors. No plate on the Shelby's 10x2 1/2 brakes.

The 60-68 MPC  shows what's in attachment 1.
The 67 Shop Manual shows what's in attachment 2.

I just got a high resolution  laptop so the screenshots are really big.
I'll remember that for next time.

You beat me to it Bill. Just as confirmation, the 1967(only) Parts and Accessories Catalog shows the same thing, except of course, for 1967 only.
