Any idea if this Speedo is from a Mustang?

Not from the classic period

160 mph is another give away

What is that mounted in?  Since the light switch is mounted through the bezel

It was fitted to a Shelby equiped XW GT HO Falcon here in Australia.

Could it be out of a Torino or Mercury and possibly used here?

Believe the issue or challenge is the 160 mph as mentioned. Most products during the 70's and 60's were not made with that high of a range Here are examples of 68 and 72 Torino/Ranchero speedos. 70-71 had a different shape. Mercury would be similar I think. Not sure if they used the standard or higher MPH one on Taladegas. Had one for a couple of weeks may years ago and I don't remember

Thanks for letting me know about where you found it. Don't know those cars or what was factory for them as far as speedos. Did get to enjoy one on a weekend in NZ many years ago

Yes, Jeff the picture you posted is on an XY GT and like may cars recently, their values have gone through the roof, not to mention the GT HO Phase 3 which commands a price of close to $1m Australian.

Sorry we could not identify the speedometer but you know that owners and shops in your part of the world will do almost anything to get something repaired and on the road. Called up a friend one day and asked him what they were doing and he reported that they were MAKING a distributor cap!!!!!  Can even imagine where to start with that sort of project

The needle and center that the needle is attached to looks identical to what Ford used here in Australian Falcons from 1968 to about 1973 with 120 mph then 140 mph on the clock.
The MPH markings on the gauge face on your photo has the same style and layout but seems designed for a car with little use for the smaller increments, such as a Phase 4 Falcon ?
I've only seen 1 genuine Phase 4 and was in too much awe to see or remember that detail!

Good thought re the Phase 4 but I?ve already confirmed with a GT Falcon historian that this didn?t come form what was used in the Phase 4.

Shelby upgrades were done here in Australia in early 70?s so it?s either a 1 off commissioned here using Australian Speedo or a USA adaptation.
