Original 83-86 wiper arms

(1/1)

Mwilson7:
I recently came across a few sets of original wiper arms and from what I can tell I believe they are correct for 83-86 Mustangs.  Does anyone have any information on which wiper arms go on which year foxes as I know there are a few different varieties.

KevinK:
I have some photos from a low mile car which shows the plastic wiper blade assembly used in 84 on an GT.  My 84 SVO had the plastic ones as well but I believe they are stored away.

I recently replaced the wiper blade inserts (E6FZ-17593-A) on my wife's low mile 88 McLaren and it had the metal blade assemblies.  Incidentally, the rubber inserts still had the 88 dates on them.

The Motorcraft replacement blade assemblies have been metal for quite some time WP16 I believe.  They recently disappeared from production.  They are easy to identify as the have a UV exposure decal which turns yellow with age.

 81-87 E3DZ-17528-c, 16" Tridon Plastic

The MPC has listings for the blade inserts.  I'm not sure if the plastic and metal ones interchange.

Making sure I'm understanding, attached are wiper arms on my 16k 84 GT, to my belief the pics that I attatched are the original wiper arms. Is that everybody else opinions? They do appear to be a plastic arm and not a metal arm.

KevinK:
The blade assembly does appear to be plastic and correct for the period.  You can check the date on the rubber wiper insert.  The wiper arm is metal and always has been.  The end of the arm has a plastic rectangle.  Not sure if there were aftermarket metal arms for the 3rd gen.  There are reproduction arms available now.
