Distributor for 66 SJ built Mustang w/smog

After some research I have come to realize 66 cars that had smog systems had a different distributor than cars without smog. Can anyone shed some light on what I am looking for re: part #'s and differences between a standard distributor and a smog distributor? Thanks in advance.

Bob Mannel's book (Mustang and Ford Small Block V8) has an excellent section on all the distributors, their numbers, and their characteristics. This is a fantastic reference book, and worth every penny!

asking about a 289 or 6cyl?
IF 289 2V or 4V?
Basic difference (if I recall correctly) will be the calibration, when and how much advance is figured in

289 4V
C6ZF-12127-M with manual trans
C6ZF-12127-A with automatic trans
If I remember correctly small pale yellow paint daub (commonly sprayed) on the rear outer part (just below the cap location) of the housing
