How about the fender brackets on the bottom, in a previous post it was suggested that they were in the wrong position.

L shaped bracket was sandwiched between the unibody and the splash shield so that it is not visible (except for the bend below the splash shield) under the splash shield or retaining screw

Also should the rubber overlap at the top or should it get trimmed to fit.

Over lapped

Great thank Jeff. Looks like my fender bracket is installed correctly.

FYI Roger also just posted a couple of great reference photos of his original paint survivor car. Observed on his car the top shield/flap is on the front side of the metal shield and the long vertical rubber shield is on the back side .

Yes saw that and they are different from San Jose installed one for 68 that is why I separated that post to a new Dearborn focused thread so not to cause confusion in this San Jose thread

OK great thanks. I will just install all the rubber on the same side. Roger's car is a nice example indeed

While we are on the subject did you notice that Rogers car has no primer showing on the inner fenders or undercoating. Was the a plant thing? As far as I know my inner should be red oxide and there show be undercoating/sound deadener applied on top off that. Hopefully this is not too off topic

How the front wheel wells were finished was a "plant thing" but also remember his was not a regular production vehicle but one of the 135 cars. If we want to discuss those you can either allot of threads on the 428CJ forum and site or we can start a different thread since its different plant and as mentioned very different cars in some areas of the build

Thanks Jeff that makes sense. More than likely special cars like that were exceptions to some of the regular procedures for various reasons.

Yes the 135 cars were identified as race cars prior to when they were build so things like any extra weight  would have been a consideration

Good point Jeff. Roger asked a question on the Dearborn thread regarding when the dust shields were installed, before or after the fenders are installed.
