Title: 66 Interior Code deviation (F3A)
Post by: Panther on April 22, 2010, 09:00:13 AM
I've seen these pics of a 66 Coupe with the interior code F3A:

Kevin Martis Tagbook states, that these deviations came for several reasons (see page 21, although on page 35 it is said that this code would mean: quarter trim panel was one piece design). It is possible that this deluxe interior with rosette (or is  it cloth?) pattern is original? Have you ever seen such a deluxe interior on a 65/66 mustang?

The deviation does not necessarily tie into one specific detail, but looking at the MPC, it can be found that the rear quarter vinyl is the only item that is different.

Have never seen seats like that.  Would encourage you to dig further, maybe take the covers off and inspect them.  My first impression of the pic is they are a custom set done by an auto trim shop, possibly using original outer trim and just replacing the inserts.

Agreed something not original with those seats.

Remember that allot of stuff was done during the 80's especially in the "concours" and "restoration" fields. Remember all sorts of not original color mixes as well as fabric or leather inserts.

Thank you both very much for the information, it helps me alot!
Charles, what do you mean with MPC? Unfortunately it's not my car so i can't take down the covers and inspect them, but i will forward this information to the owner. If he'll find anything interesting, i'll post it here!

Sorry for pushing this old thread, but I got a question about the vinyl trim:
The quarter panel trim normally consists out of more pieces but with the three digit code it's just one-piece, right?
Do you have pictures of these two different types of the quarter panel trim?
Would be very interesting to see the difference, not just read about it ;)

Thanks!
Paul

From what I understand, the difference is simply one is made from 2 pieces with a stitched middle and the other is one piece with no stitching.
