If you are asking about the foam that goes over the power steering return and cooler lines, I have a couple of images that may help. There is one picture I don't have on file, that you will need to see as it is just where the blue paint daub is, that is a space where a plastic clamp goes to secure the two lines together, and another portion of foam follows that up. There is a picture on Jack's website that shows the clamp if you are not familiar with them.

If I get a chance later, I will try and forward an image where the clamp is. Hope this helps.

Thanks for posting the pictures. Those will be a big help.
I knew about the clamp - but my car was built in May so I guess it wasn't used.
So if the clamp wasn't used - is it just one long piece or still two pieces?
Do you know what the length dimension is?

Back in the late 70's early 80's I got a complete PS system form a 1969 351 car with 14,000 miles - I seemed to remember the sleeve was in two pieces - but I don't remember any clamp - but that was a 351 car.

Thanks,
Dale.

Dale,
you may have to rely on some of the more experienced on this forum with May production and what facility your car was produced. I had a May produced big block Dearborn 69 Mustang that did have that power steering clip as well.

All the Best!

Sean,

Thanks for that info on your May Dearborn car with the clip.
Mine is a Metuchen built.
I think Ed had one of those clips on ebay a couple of weeks ago.
Do you have any info on the P/S Hose Rubber strap that Max sells (F-521) for the 390/428?

Thanks,
Dale.

Has anyone used this .... does it look correct for the application?

At one time I believe some were just going down to the GM dealerships and purchasing it there. Sorry don't have the modern application not part number

Here's the sleeve that Mustangs Unlimited sells.
It's about 21" long with a wall thickness around .150"

Would a 70 Boss 302 use the Foam on the Return hose for the Power Steering? If so, how long is it and where about should it be placed?

I sent an original piece of this foam to Daniel Carpenter back years ago & had him make the foam since this foam p/s hose protector always stretches & swells from engine & p/s fluids leaks & exhaust heat. I told him to market & sell it in 21'' lengths as that would fit all boss 302 & 429s & 428 cjs & other ford cars & the buyer could cut it to correct lengths depending on the car it is being used on. I only found one piece of this foam nos & it had a c7az ford # id tag on it so it was being used back in 1967 on other ford cars as I have found this foam on hoses in other ford p/s kits in old ford dealerships back in the 80s & 90s when I made obsolete parts buying dealership trips.  Dragpack69 you cant go by old used fluid soaked foam hose lengths since they stretch & swell badly over the years & fall apart.  I got my original lenghts from low mile cars & new take off p/s setups taken from cars made into drag cars back in 69 when they were new.  Also around 1971 or so I see ford changed over to a harder rubber type hose protector that held up better to the elements.
