Title: Fan Shroud For Six Cyl?
Post by: JKWilson on June 13, 2015, 12:28:06 PM
I do not ever recall seeing a 71-73 of any body style with a 250ci six cylinder. I imagine a few do exist out there.....somewhere! My question is, does anyone have any info or pics of a fan shroud for one so equipped? Maybe even a listing for one in an MPC?

I know that the "standard" piece was more of a metal "guard" bolted to the top of the radiator support over the fan, though not a true fan shroud. Did the A/C equipped cars come with a true shroud though?

Thanks for any help!

MPC lists that the 6 cylinder with AC used a shroud marked D1ZE-BA or D1ZE-BB

Suggests that the same one was used (maybe) on the 72 250 applications - Mustang

You might (its listed as the same replacement number) check 71-2 Torino  with the 250 engine also. Like that is going to make your task any easier   ::)

Good luck with the search

Thanks very much for the info Jeff!  :)

p.s. I actually HAVE seen a 250ci Torino, though not in person. If you remember the TV show "Wrecks to Riches", they made one into a "Super Muscle Car" (e.g. DESTROYED an absolutely pristine one...it's only crime? It had the six in it!). While the car may not have been desirable to some, it was a true mint original car.

Just a quick update. I have found one! I was pretty lucky in locating such a hard to find piece. The markings are on the left of the fan opening on the inside (engine side), face. The top line (no pun intended), says "TOP", with a line below, "Barnum Bros Fibre Co, Inc" and a final line below, "D1ZE-8146-BB". It's unbelievable how heavy it is due to being constructed of thick fiberglass, especially when compared to the molded plastic shrouds!
