Title: Jeff Speegle On Vintage Ford Factory Markings - Video
Post by: krelboyne on June 09, 2016, 03:30:25 PM
Jeff Speegle was kind enough to spend some time with us here in Oregon. We did a walk around our shop and wrecking yard, looking at and discussing manufacturing marks from Dearborn and San Jose. Enjoy.

Cool. Is there an Academy Award Nomination in the works? (Makeup!)

Thanks Scott, Don and Andrew for taking what little I provided and doing so much with it. There were not any do overs just the camera rolling and us sharing and talking. Never expected it would be about me - but instead (like here) about the details and focus

Thanks for the opportunity, the time and the effort

Great video! I want more... more... more, too.
If Jeff were to ever visit Ohio and came and looked at my car, he would never have to pay for beer or food in my town for life!

Thank the guys at West Coast Cougars for the work - I was just the stuttering i**t and test subject that day  :o

As every member here knows its only an introduction/tease into the subject - no way could we cover anything well/in dept given all the years, plants and other contributing facts but it is fun walking around a well seasoned and full yard taking notice of all the little things. Every time you learn something new - or your not looking hard enough  8)

Thanks Scott and Jeff for this video. It provides some great tips in investigation of the history of our cars.

Thanks for posting this. Nice to put faces to the names. I've bought some parts from Scott over the years. And many of Jeff's posts have helped me with my car....

Jeff, the information comes through in an very  effective way, are there plans for some type of similar effort in the future ?  ;)

Not sure what " some type of similar effort in the future" might look like

Since much of the details is fairly specific to each car it would be impossible to put together a collection that would help everyone without confusing everyone.

Do have a basic What are paint marks, how do you reproduce them ........  sort of article about half done waiting in the wings

yeah its good that jeff  documents all cars from all 3 plants as I only study Dearborn cars (you know where all the coolcars were built ha ha) but all the little details is where its at as over time this is all lost & history cant be repeated as keeping track of & photoing all the marking & sheetmetal date codes is so important with concours restorations to try & figure outa pattern of what was done so many years ago & this is why (the people that care anyway) take the time to doc all thedetails &  sometime youmay only learn 1 thing on a unmolested car & just recentlyi inspected a very original 70 b9 & found something I have been trying to doc all these years & now I know the correct rpm timing on a 70 820 a boss 429 engine .   anyone care to guess or know for sure?

Thanks Jeff for your efforts....my first car was a 68 Cougar that my father towed off the highway for the state police - it was abandoned.  I worked one summer at my father's body shop and painted it two-tone (not concours!)

Amazing to see all those Cougars in one place.

Thank you for the video to give us all some understanding of the markings we can look for on our projects and some insight to what they represent.  Thank you also for taking the time to put it together and provide the location and knowledge to match.  Good Video!

ALL the praise goes to the West Coast Cougar's owner and crew. Always fun to visit and always one of those places you should IMHO check for parts if you have a post 66 car.

Now I know what I looked like on TV !    (Boy that was painful)  LOL

Jeff, enjoyed your video. Like in advertising, how do you get the word out. I have found matching marks on the Cyclones I work on but have no way of letting people know what I know. I do post stuff here, but I don't think there are many non mustang people here. I mean a good % of people, not just a few like me.

I enjoyed the video as well.  Actually liked the ending they put in there talking about your background and yourself.  Always interesting to hear how we got involved in the hobby.  Good to see Scott and Don as well.
