Title: 68 Shelby trunk bumpers
Post by: ruppstang on September 25, 2016, 09:50:55 PM
I was in a discussion about the 68 Shelby trunk bumper metal finish. One view was that the threaded parts was finished in zinc dichromate like the hood bumpers. The other view was that the finish is phosphate and oil only on the trunk bumper. I own a unrestored 68 GT350 so today I checked my trunk bumpers and found them to be just the same as a hood bumper zinc dichromate. That makes sense to me why would Ford had another finish bumper? I am curious of what others may have found in their experience.

Everyone I've seen is zinc dichromate. Jamb nuts are phosphate

Tim that is what I found when I removed one of mine from our unrestored 68 GT350
