Title: 65 Convertible metal strip
Post by: Sig 65 on April 20, 2017, 02:30:02 PM
I am trying to figure out what the metal strips that hold down the convertible top on the inside to the body in the back.. There is one long one under the window and two smaller ones on the sides.  Also what are they supposed to look like?  Painted, chromed, Top color, bodycolor?   Any help appreciated.

They are tacking strips for the convertible top.  Yes, they are supposed to look like that.  The well liner would cover them.

'66 and up went to a different design where those short pieces were made longer and were curved.  This was to enable the rear window to be removed without pulling staples off the tack strips.

Normally the bottom edge is trimmed, so guessing this is a replacement top.

Thank you very much. So they were just bare metal?

It's a galvanized or zinc plated finish usually.
