Title: Pin Striping option?
Post by: MustangAndFairlane1867 on June 30, 2017, 02:08:58 PM
My '65 fastback (San Jose/2.16.1965) bears its faded original Rangoon Red paint and has equally-faded white pin striping along the hood and the side that also appears original.   I've not heard of pin striping being an option back "in the day," but I recently came across this promotional picture of a Mustang that shows pin striping on the body, too.  So my question is, was pin striping an option from the factory, or maybe the dealer?  Thanks, Ron

yes. there was an option called 'accent group' it included a pinstripe that followed the body side contour.

Thanks for that info.  Mine includes pin stripping along the outer edges of the hood as well as the side of the car.  Hard to tell if it's paint or decal, but if I had to hazard a guess I would say decal.  It's in terrible, faded condition just as the paint is and I don't plan to replicate the pin stripping when the car goes in for paint in the next couple of months.  Ron...

the accent striping was painted back in the day.
