Title: 1965 Hipo Exhaust
Post by: kcode6 on September 01, 2010, 07:15:08 PM
Does anyone know when the 1965 hipos changed from the transverse muffler configuration to the use of the dual rear resonators?  I have a January 1965 Dearborn built hipo convertible that has the rear exhaust hangers located on the frame closer to the rear axle than those hipos that used resonators.  This would suggest that there were no resonators.

I thought the transverse muffler was used only on early 1964 hipos.

Your car would have had the Arvinode system, which was one of 3 dual exhaust systems used in 64.5-65.

Thanks for the response.  I have recently heard of the Arvinode system.  Was this exhaust system an option in 1965?  Did this system also use the standard dual exhaust hanger arrangement that is located in front of the rear axle?

It was not an option, it was installed on K codes as the successor to the transverse system.  There may have been some extremely early '65 GT A codes that got the system, but I have not been able to absolutely confirm this.

I have the Arvinode ehaust from Waldron Antique Exhaust on my 65 K coupe, also a January dearborn car, and I love the sound.
