Title: 69 Rear Spoiler Finishes
Post by: Aussie_Boss302 on May 09, 2020, 02:03:25 PM
How was the rear spoiler assembly finished?  My wing is a dark grey/black and seems unpainted.  The staunchings I have are semi-gloss black.  Posted pictures show the rivets unpainted.

If its an original 69 then the main body was molded in a black plastic and the stands and brackets painted then added to the spoiler
Over the years they often faded or got bleached by the sun (as well as warped and cracked) and then touched up with some black rattle can paint

Not an easy piece to find if you don't have one.

Details would be different on a 70 rear spoiler

Here is my spoiler

On closer examination it looks like the original molded plastic is flat black

Are these brackets flat black or SG black?

Believe they were on the lower side of semi-gloss towards the flat. Best comparison after all these years would be under the rivet heads you can see on your attaching bracket IMHO
