Title: 69 grille beauty ring trim

was the factory correct 69 shelby grille beauty ring 1 piece. I have a aftermarket that is connected at the bottom with a clear plastic joint. What is factory correct?

It is one piece but there is a single break in the ring (oriented when placed on the grill on the bottom). Is the plastic something that is just used for shipping?
