Title: Carlite glass logo orientation on early March/April '64 cars
Post by: CharlesTurner on March 11, 2014, 11:03:31 AM
For the 64 1/2 coupe that I'm restoring, decided to try all new glass.  The original is scratched up and can't be buffed properly.  I have all 6 side pieces, so I am good on date codes and logos.  The rear glass and front windshield were not included with the car.  So, was hoping someone with an early March or April '64 coupe could tell me the orientation of the Carlite logos on original glass?  I just need to know for the windshield and rear glass, which way do they read, from the inside or outside?

Thanks

I can't help you on the rear glass, but my "CarLite" logo on the front windshield can be read correctly from the inside of the car.  - March 12th 64 Dearborn convertible.   The original 64 coded windshield was badly cracked, so I was very careful to have the replacement etched to match exactly.

I hope that helps!

My Oct. 65 coupe has the logo on the outside of the rear and reads from the outside.  That piece is dated 4K.

All of my glass is original as far as I can tell except for driver side door.

I broke my windshield taking it out, and did not think to notate this information, but here is how the rest is laid out:

Rear window etched and read from outside
Driver vent etched and read from outside
Pass vent etched and read from inside
Windshield - as I now know, etched and read from inside
Pass door etched and read from inside
driver qrtr etched and read from inside
pass qrtr etched and read from outside
