Title: Rocker Tape
Post by: imnutz66 on April 02, 2010, 10:27:00 AM
The other day on another forum there was a post from a guy who says he has a 70 Mach that he has owned since 73, he is in the process of having it painted and was wondering where he could get the black "tape" that was used in the rocker area for blackout - he says the body shop had to remove it to prep for the paint job. Anyone ever heard of this?

yes I have seen several 70 models that have black tape covering the opening in door jam...to cover wires...

heres a shot of my 70 built Nov 1969 at Metuchen....

PS.....while we are at it...see the plastic strip between the rocker and the Mach 1 cladding?...

usually missing as it got left off when folks repainted the car I am guessing.....

have to re-open this one - he says the tape is very much like the tape under the sill plate (black cloth-like)and runs from the plate across the sill to the rocker cladding and works as blackout, car built late Sept 69 at Dearborn

I've seen some that appear to have been a paint detail (like the black out between the panels)

Apparently we have different practices during different periods and plants
