Dec 67 built SJ Cougar '68 black standard interior - is the steering column bracket under the dash painted semi gloss black or the dark charcoal metallic of the column and dash?

Everything I can find suggests that the clamp/bracket that holds the steering column to the lower dash is painted the same color as the face of the dash. So in your example Dark Charcoal Metallic

Examples of what Jeff said. Easier to see with non-black interiors. Bracket color matches dash panel & column.
