Matt,

Thanks for posting your pictures--nice car!  I've since sold my '65 Palomino car, and although I had a local paint store match an original sample I found on the inside of the car, I never actually got around to using the paint they mixed for me.  I figured it would be a lot closer than what I put on the car back in 2005, but I guess an interior re-do is the new owner's concern now.
Too much junk, too little time.

Hello,

my name is Felix from Germany and I restore my T5 from 1965. The original colors were Prairie Bronze outside and Palomino inside.

I found the following informations:
Medium Palomino:
Ditzler ppg 22519
R/M 5759

Light Palomino:
Ditzler ppg 22520

Palomino:
Ditzler ppg 22230
R/M 1631
Ford M1636
Acme 9357
Dupont 4493L

Prairie Bronze:
Ditzler ppg 22438
R/M 1693
Ford M1738
Acme 9605
Dupont 4603L

My question is what are the correct ones and is it possible to translate the Ditzler PPG in some of the other Codes?
Thank you in advance.

Best regards Felix

Since most if not all of the brands have reformulated their paints and tint colors its not easy to get a conversion from the old/original formuals to the newer mixes. Most need to be custom match to get something the same color as original. Auto-library (TCP Global)  has started reformulating some of the original colors into the currently available brands but you would have to see if they have done the colors your interested in

Great Thread! I'm currently struggling a bit with the same color interior; in my case the metal is the un-restored original color but nothing else that came with the car was correct. One of the photos shows a White Door Panel and the mix of Pony Front Seats and Standard Rear are some sort of White also. I did discover that my Headliner was originally White; thanks to finding some original Headliner under the Rubber Windshield and Back glass Weatherstripping.

I've posted the most representative photos I have of the original paint; mid-January 1965 Dearborn Coupe. They reflect the color accurately; not too dark and not too light as photos have a tendency to do. I could lay these photos against the car and they would blend in.

You may also check the Gallery...carlizard has posted some photos of his '64-1/2 Convertible with this Interior Color.

Hope these help.

Thank you very much for the help. I found the colors I need and they also show some available positions but I think it would be difficult to ship to Germany. Do they sent samples? http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1965-Ford-pg02.jpg

Furthermore thank you for the pictures. I think Medium Palomino would be the correct color than.

drummingrocks,

Take a look at these pictures of my palomino interior '65 coupe.

http://s1190.photobucket.com/albums/z455/MattDoscher/my%20Palomino%20interior/

This restoration was completed by Legendary Motorcar in Canada.  They used 2 versions/shades of palomino for my interior.

PPG Deltron 2000, PPG code 22520, light palomino with 923-57 clear and 100g of 522-322 added to can.

PPG Deltron 2000, PPG code 22519, medium palomino with 923-57 clear and 100g of 522-322 added to can.

The light palomino covers the majority of the metal interior (dash, doors, etc.) and the medium palomino is on the dash pad.  I believe they used light palomino on the package tray as well.  The carpet is light saddle, visors are saddle, headliner is saddle, and the seatbelts are saddle.

Hope this helps,

Matt

Hey Matt,

Is this trim code 69?  Looks just like my coupe, but much nicer!  ;)

Yes according to my How to Restore Your Mustang book this would be interior code 69 (palomino deluxe interior w/ bucket seats).  This wasn't the original interior of my car but I wanted it this way when I had the car restored.

Thanks Matt.

Very nice looking interior and I'm sure the car is sharp with the exterior color.

Wouldn't mind seeing some more pictures of it!  ;)

There are many pictures of my 64.5 vert with a palomino interior posted here:  http://www.concoursmustang.com/forum/index.php?action=gallery;su=user;cat=69;u=1989

I've owned the car for 40 years and it was all original when I bought it.  We successfully matched all of the paint colors and the upholstery closely matches the original.

Sure. Unfortunately my pictures are only good for 'before' images!  ;) Looking forward to the day I can post some 'after' pictures.

Don't think I'll be able to reuse my dash pad.  ???

@carlizard
Thank you very much. The pictures are very helpful. Do you have some color codes for me? I see that there is a difference between the dash (medium) and the dash pad (light)? Sadly I can't other any cans because the won't send them by air mail.

@rodster
Thank you also for you pictures because I can see the deluxe interior correctly.

No color codes.  The body shop may have them so I'll ask.  The dash pad and sun visors are the same color.  While I replaced the dash pad years ago I painted it with vinyl die from California Mustang: the part number is: INTERIOR VINYL DYES, 1965-66 Palomino, med SKU: V5759 made by Highway Classics.  It matched the visors which are original.  UPS or FedX won't work?
