'67 am/8 track radio light

Should the radio light illuminate any time the ignition is on, or as a function of  the radio being turned on?.....or none of the above?

It should operate in conjunction with other instrument lamps

In conjunction is a good way to put it.   This means it dims with the instrument lamps also.
