Punched holes in 64 1/2 trunk area
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:07:41 PM »
The 64 1/2 we are working on right now has two very clean holes punched in the driver's sideinner trunk area above the gas tank mount area.  They look like they have a purpose and I cannot guess what the previous owner would have done with them.  They do not look like someone drilled them.  Are these suppose to be here on an early build (April 13) car? Fill em?  Don't have another early car to compare but I have never senn them beofre.  Thanks.

Anyone? Bueller?

Yes, they are an early car detail.  Would be rubber plugs in the holes.

FYI those holes are in the trunk pan to make it easier to remove the factory hold downs

What's the gigantic bolt/washer there for?
Too much junk, too little time.

So I go out to the 1963 Allen Park chassie build car and look and yes it has the access holes (with plugs still in) but................  NO hole in the trunk pan (as it didn't go down a line) !!

Man you you think you are glad you didn't fill them .. I'm glad I didn't drill mine !

No paint goes there from the assembly line.  Use a BFW and bolt to make it look correct. We still have a little bodywork to do but this one is ready for paint. :)
