vacuum hose/harness
« on: September 13, 2010, 07:07:01 AM »
Is the vacuum hose from the air-conditioning canister to the intake manifold fitting a special hose? Some cars I have seen regular vacuum hose other cars I have seen specialized markings on this specific hose??

Often the markings are removed during cleaning or the hoses replaced with standard hose

Yes there are specific markings on the hoses.

Does your car have tilt also?

No it doesn't. Tried to find a Metuchen built car at the Biltmore gathering but none of them had A/C. 1969 mach 1 351W, A/C, FMX, I have all the correct hoses for everything else but the one from the canister to the vacuum fitting. Also couldn't find anything for the clip or fitting that the hose runs through on the firewall. Checked with AMK doesn't appear that piece is available, any idea's on that?

Sorry this took a couple of days (right in the middle of moving) 69 351W with Air and no tilt
Sorry no scanner to post a scan of the original drawings

1- Top hose to canister (runs through firewall to controls mounted on dash) - listed as black

2- Hose that runs from the firewall to the water flow valve on heater hose (runs through firewall to controls mounted on dash) - marked purple

3- Bottom hose at canister to intake vacuum source - no color stripe listed, may have none

Hope this helps

Thanks again Jeff,
Do you have any idea where to get the clip that the vacuum harness runs through on the firewall? I got the number out of the assembly manuals but appears is not even available from AMK

Normally find the rubber coated metal retainer on parts cars at yards and such. Check Cougars and other Fords - they used them also
