Transmission jack for use with a vehicle lift?
« on: June 12, 2021, 07:24:39 PM »
At long last, my lift is being delivered and installed next week. One of my first jobs will be to replace a leaking C6 front seal on my W code Cougar GT-E. I need to buy a suitable transmission jack. Lots of choices out there. Anyone have one that they recommend? Or hate?

I saw this one and thought it had merit:

This one seemed awfully expensive:

Liked this one too:

I have used ones similar to the first and last one.  The jack worked fine however the top part where the adjustments were had too much free play. Another thing was the way the tranny was tied down to the top assy, it was difficult to solidly attach the trans to it. We sometimes used a ratchet strap but that wasn't ideal. The 2nd one appears to be a volume tranny shop jack. Probably a very nice unit but hard to justify for occasional use.

I used one more like this when I had to remove my FMX to replace my front band. Not sure if it was 70" or more when the car was up on the 2 post lift. Did the job with no problems.

Accurate looking but not a Concours Restoration/build. See my build photo gallery at 69GT350 Hertz Build

Nice price on this one! It appears many are copies of one another which in my mind means the basic concept is good.
