1972 Mach 1 Primer
« on: October 17, 2011, 12:32:43 AM »
Did Ford purchase and use primer from American Motors Co. in the late 60's, early 70's? I was told that a greenish colored primer, discovered under a small area of chipped bright red paint on my Mach was quite probably this product. Apparently, AMC sold off a large supply of various camouflage colored primers to Ford as they were closing their military vehicle division. Thoughts?

Haven't seen any evidence of that but will keep an eye open to see if anything shows up.

Guessing that your referring to the Ford Dearborn plant or could it be one of the many others that made other cars than Mustangs and Cougars

Could well be other plants or even other auto makers. Thanks!
